‘Dexter:’ Meet The Cast’s Real-Life Spouses

By the summer of 2010, according to Divorce Mag, Carpenter had filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Their divorce was finalized in 2011, long before the two would part ways professionally. As their marriage came to an end, the two committed to seeing their work on “Dexter” through to the end, which came in September of 2012. Afterwards, Dexter’s boat is found to be completely wrecked and he’s thought to be dead. He’s secretly living in a small town in Oregon, having faked his death and created an alternate identity. That’s where he is now, and where we’ll find him for the revival season. Dexter rushes to find Deb, and decides to disconnect her life support, fleeing the hospital with her body.

Does Dexter really love Rita?

After uncovering the bodies of a couple Randall killed, Dexter realizes Hannah’s story isn’t truthful. While on a date, Dexter takes Hannah to a closed Christmas-themed amusement park, where it turns out Dexter has a kill room set up. He prepares to kill Hannah, but cannot go through with it and releases her and they end up having sex in the kill room instead. They become a couple and they both fall in love for the first time; he helps her by disposing of her abusive father and she helps him realize that his “Dark Passenger” does not control his life. So much death and destruction follow this guy around and no one is none the wiser. The Michael C. Hall-led series ran for eight bloody seasons on Showtime, garnering 24 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, with Hall nominated five times in a row from 2008 to 2012.

However, despite their good moments, Rita was completely unaware that she initially was used as a cover to help Dexter appear more normal, and his secret life as a serial killer eventually gets her killed. Further, this season really should have been a turning point for Deb. Year after year we’ve watched her in one craptastic relationship after another.

It wasn’t out of left field and sure it’s uncomfortable and taboo but again, the main character of the show dismembers people. By simply being part of Dexter’s universe, Debra is destined for her tragic end from the beginning of the show. After Randall commits suicide, Hannah assists in locating the remaining bodies.

Dexter once again chooses his sister, and gets Hannah thrown in jail for the murder of Sal Price, a journalist writing a book about her. Eventually, however, Dexter devises a plan to kill both her and Estrada. LaGuerta begs Deb to kill Dexter, or at least arrest him, but instead, Debra murders LaGuerta in cold blood. Twoo app Dexter’s colleague Vince Masuka causes his own stir this season by hiring a cute intern named Ryan. Unfortunately, she’s looking to steal from the evidence locker, not learn about forensics. After selling one of the Ice Truck Killer’s trophy mannequin hands, Masuka fires Ryan and hires Louis Greene, a web developer.

Despite the fact that they are only adopted siblings and not blood-related, that doesn’t make the concept seem any less weird as the two grew up together as brother and sister for the majority of their lives. Still, there was something about Rita and her goodness that helped balance out Dexter’s dark passenger, and being with her actually seemed tomake Dexter a better person. Although some fans believe they wouldn’t have lasted in the long run, there were a few that did agree they loved and cared for each other. Dexter Morgan NationalityAmericanHannah McKay is a fictional character portrayed by Yvonne Strahovski, in the seventh and eighth seasons of the Showtime television series Dexter. Dexter aired from 2006 to 2013 on Showtime and included the shocking death of Deb and one of the most unpopular series finales in TV history.

At first, Batista caves in to LaGuerta’s demands, but grows more and more frustrated. When a drunk police officer makes sexual remarks about LaGuerta (“she gave the best blowjobs in Miami”), Batista, also drunk, beats him up and ends up being investigated by Internal Affairs. LaGuerta teams up with the investigating officer, but that prompts Batista to develop a deep jealousy.

Here are some of the series best and worst couples according to Reddit throughout the eight seasons of Dexter. Despite its many darker moments in the Showtime series,Dexterfeatured a number of notable couples, many of whom brought lighter moments to the otherwise tragic elements of this bloody crime drama show. Some came together over a traumatic bond to heal as Lumen did with Dexter, while others like the toxic Lila who pursued Dexter to no end left fans with nothing to root for but a quick break-up. Adding to the awkwardness of this story, Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter were married in real life and got divorced a year later. So as much as I hate this storyline, I bet I could name two people who like it even less.

One Reddit user couldn’t help but feel sympathy for her, especially since she was “sweet, loyal” and didn’t deserve any of it. Even after he tried to end things Lila refused to accept a future without Dexter and went after Astor and Cody as revenge for his betrayal. Manyfans of the series couldn’t take to the pairing, withone user commentating that it “made no sense, giving Dexter’s misgivings about romantic relationships.” Debra Morgan stood by her brother’s side through it all, making her one of the most tragic characters on the small screen. She admits she poisoned Debra because she tried to separate them, and Dexter tells her he had to turn her in to protect his sister. Hannah assures Dexter that she won’t tell his secret when she goes to trial.

There is one scene in particular that, for some, is synonymous with the ways in which the series lost its footing the longer it remained on the air. Arguably the most central character to the series other than Dexter himself, Deb was also quite controversial among fans. Her messy demeanor and aggressive potty-mouth were loved and loathed almost in equal measure, as were the ways in which her ascension through the ranks of Miami PD affected Dexter’s passion projects. Regardless of how viewers felt, though, Deb was the most important person in Dexter’s life, which made his decision to take her off life support in the series finale all the more heartbreaking. But in real life, Bush and Murray appeared to be the winning couple. According to People, they began dating during season one of the show, in 2003, and were married in April 2005.

After persistent but gentlemanly advances, Angel begins a relationship with the other officer; Barbara Gianna. He is obviously over-conscientious of the relationship, leaving her a long-winded message begging forgiveness for having to cancel dinner because of work. However, Barbara finds this hysterically funny, brings him a take-out dinner, and their relationship appears strong. One indication as to the strength of their relationship is that after she is assaulted, it is suggested that he would have tried to kill the assailant , had Dexter not intervened and subtly calmed Batista down.

Season 7

Things come to a head when it turns out that Rudy is actually Brian Moser, Dexter’s brother, who has also turned into a serial killer. When Brian kidnaps Debra and offers her on a slab for Dexter to murder, Dexter is torn between his love for his adoptive sister and his desire to know his brother. Dexter kills Brian and makes it look like a suicide, a decision that ends up haunting him for the rest of his life. Debra wanted Dexter to kill Hannah for her misdeeds but he refused and the two remained together. Though they split at the end of season seven, Hannah returned in season eight.

Does Quinn find out about Dexter?

In Season 8, Miami Metro is on the hunt for the Brain Surgeon, a serial killer who removes the portion of the brain that corresponds to empathy. To assist, they bring in Dr. Evelyn Vogel, a psychiatrist and neuroscientist with particular expertise in psychopaths. Dexter quickly finds out that Dr. Vogel knew his father, and that she was the one who actually created Harry’s code. Dexter also discovers that Dr. Vogel’s own son, Oliver Saxon, is the Brain Surgeon. In a tense showdown, Saxon kills his mother and sends Dexter on a wild chase. Season 7also features a storyline that starts when Deb’s new detective, Mike Anderson, is killed by a Koshka Brotherhood mob enforcer named Viktor Baskov.

Angel Batista

“She’s kind of a super clingy girlfriend, and he doesn’t want that,” an insider told Us Weekly. “He really likes his space, and she wasn’t happy about that.” The couple lives a very private life, and they haven’t publicly commented on their relationship despite rumors about their separation. David is the only cast member to have been an actual police officer, and he married the Bronx born and raised actress and producer, Liza Colón, on November 21, 1998. After her marriage to Michael C. Hall, Jennifer found love with the rocker Seth Avett, whom she married on May 29, 2016. Kaling also revealed in May 2019 that Novak is her daughter’s godfather.
